Neuro rehab · North Worcestershire

Neuro rehab that comes to you.

Conductive Education for children and adults living with cerebral palsy, stroke, Parkinson’s, MS, brain injury and other neurological conditions. It’s learning to do everyday movements, like sitting, standing, walking and using your hands, by saying each step out loud and counting it through. We bring it to your home, school or care home.

  • Children and adults
  • We travel to you, across North Worcestershire and the West Midlands
  • Works alongside your NHS team

A task series, the conductive way

  1. “I put my feet flat on the floor.”
  2. “I lean forward, nose over my toes.”
  3. “I push up, and I stand tall.”

Saying the action out loud and counting it through (rhythmical intention) is used in Conductive Education to help people plan, start and finish a movement, then use it in everyday life. Every task series is written for the person in front of us, so this is an illustration, not an exercise to try at home.

We travel to you

Rehab where daily life actually happens

Skills are easiest to use when they’re learned in the places you use them: your own chair, your own stairs, your own classroom.

We visit homes, schools and care homes across Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Stourbridge, Birmingham and the surrounding area. Travel within that area is included; further afield, we agree a mileage charge with you before you book.

At home

One-to-one sessions in your own home, built around your routines, your furniture and your family.

In care homes

Small-group and one-to-one sessions for residents, with simple ideas staff can use every day. Book a free taster.

Schools & nurseries

Sessions and advice that fit the school day, working with teachers, teaching assistants and EHCP goals. Support for children.

Community groups

We’re planning small local groups, including for people living with Parkinson’s or after a stroke. Ask us and we’ll let you know when they start.

Our approach · Conductive Education

Taught, not treated

Conductive Education was developed in Hungary by Dr András Pető, who believed people with movement difficulties should be taught, not treated. It’s now practised around the world. With skilled teaching, rhythm, repetition and plenty of encouragement, people practise the movements they need for everyday life.

A conductor is trained to look at the whole person (movement, communication, thinking and confidence) and to build all of it into practical, real-life tasks. Sessions are active, structured and friendly, and every one ends with something to carry into the rest of your week.

More about Conductive Education

  • You do the movingWe guide, prompt and encourage; you practise the movement yourself, at your own pace.
  • The whole personMovement, communication, thinking and confidence are worked on together, not in separate boxes.
  • Goals from your real lifeStanding to brush your teeth. Walking to the garden. Holding a pencil. You choose what matters.
  • Practice that carries overYou get a simple home programme, so practice doesn’t stop when the session does.

We work alongside your NHS team, not instead of it. Conductors are specialist educators rather than physiotherapists or occupational therapists. With your permission, we’re glad to share goals and progress with your NHS team, GP, school or case manager.

Who you’ll work with

Hello, I’m Susan.

I’m a conductor. I came to Conductive Education later in life, going back to university at fifty and qualifying in 2015 with First Class honours. Since then I’ve worked with children and adults of all ages.

I set up NeuroAchieve UK so that more people can get this kind of specialist, practical support where they live: in their own homes, their schools and their care homes.
