Dyspraxia and developmental delay

Coordination, balance, handwriting and the everyday skills that make school and play easier.

What sessions look like

Active, playful and built around real goals

Sessions are busy and fun. We use songs, counting and short “task series” (sequences of movements) built around a goal your child cares about: sitting up to play, standing at the sink, walking to the classroom door, holding a spoon.

Parents and carers are part of every session, so by the end you know exactly what to practise and how to help, without doing it for them.

Younger children start with shorter sessions and a parent alongside. Older children and teenagers work more independently, on goals they choose themselves.

  • At homeOne-to-one sessions using your own furniture and routines, so practice fits real family life.
  • At nursery and schoolSessions in school with teachers and teaching assistants, linked to your child’s EHCP outcomes where they have one.
  • Holiday groupsWe’re hoping to run small groups in the school holidays. Ask us and we’ll let you know if they start.
  • A home programmeSimple practice ideas for between sessions, updated as your child’s goals change.

Before you get in touch

Questions parents ask

Does this replace my child’s NHS physiotherapy?

No. Conductive Education works alongside NHS physiotherapy and occupational therapy, not instead of them. With your permission, we’re happy to share goals and progress with your child’s NHS team and school so everyone is pulling in the same direction.

How often would my child need sessions?

It depends on your child and your goals. Many families choose weekly or fortnightly sessions. We’ll suggest a plan after the assessment visit, and there’s no long contract.

What age can children start?

From babyhood. With very young children, sessions are gentle and play-based, and a parent is always part of them.

Can Conductive Education be part of my child’s EHCP?

Some families have Conductive Education written into their child’s Education, Health and Care Plan. We can write an assessment report (£90) to support your case with your local authority. See funding options.

What should my child wear?

Comfortable clothes they can move in, with bare feet or well-fitting shoes, whichever their physiotherapist recommends. Bring any splints or orthotics they usually wear.
